Personal Certificate Drive
For those who will be present at the EPIKH schools, or even just in the neighbourhood of UCT for the next 3 weeks, we invite you to come by to the Shuttleworth Labs in the Computer Science Department to request new personal X.509 certificates from our INFN CA Registration Authorities. Registration Authorities are individuals which are trusted by the Certificate Authority to identify indivuduals, verify certificate requests and submit these requests to the CA on the individual's behalf. There are usually two RA's per institute.
Note : you need to bring along your national identity document in order to be provide proof of identity!
New Registration Authorities
We have RA's at the following institutes :
- University of Cape Town
- Meraka Institute (undergoing change of responsibility)
- iThemba LABS
- University of Johannesburg
- University of the Free State (in progress)
- North West University (in progress)
We aim to have at least two registration authorities at each university and laboratory in South Africa, in order to issue host and personal certificates to these. In order for RA's to be established, they first need to be identified and vetted (ie, they need a personal certificate). Then the Organization Manager must send to the INFN CA a registered letter of appointment using an official letter template.
If you would like to become the RA for your institute, or would like to nominate RA's at your institute, please write to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it with the information.
